“One Sunday during the 2007 football season, our oldest daughter Ryan blessed our ‘hot wings halftime meal’ with a prayer..." ...‘Dear God, even if my parents keep saying that they have to think about it… please show them their calling to adopt’. Wow, we thought we were thanking God for the wings!” Jerald and Dianne Cosey passed the Ethiopian court on Monday, November 9th… bringing them one step closer to adopting their son Wynston from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. “At first, we kept coming up with reasons why we couldn’t adopt. We felt like the Lord was saying, ‘you keep saying that you believe in Me. I want you to follow where I am leading you. I will provide… trust Me!” About one year ago, Jerald and Dianne, along with their two daughters decided to follow the Lord’s calling on their life to adopt a child from Ethiopia. They were led to Ethiopia due to the challenges of social injustice, short life span, disease, poverty, and lack of adequate medical care or education - to name a few. After a lot of anxiety regarding the financial burden that comes with international adoption, the Cosey’s talked with a pastor from their church. He shared with them that Grace Church/Hands of Hope Adoption Ministry in Indiana had established an adoption fund with Lifesong for Orphans, set up to meet the needs of adoptive families in their area. When God calls a couple to adopt, the financial hurdles provide places to see God's provision in ways the family never imagined. We believe God wants to use His church as a part of a couple’s “financial provision” in adoption. Adoption Funds challenge, encourage, and enable Believers to put their faith in action, by stepping out in faith to adopt (fulfilling God’s commands in scripture).
