Lifesong — Zambia Overview
Featured Video

As in most African countries, the orphan problem in Zambia is great, with an estimate of over 1,000,000 orphans (8-10% of the population).
Some other stunning statistics:
- 1 out of every 5 individuals is HIV+.
- The average life expectancy is 30.5 years.
- 50% of Zambia’s population is under the age of 15.
- Only 10% of all children attend school regularly.
This school is caring for 253 orphan and vulnerable children who are receiving Christian education and being fed 2 meals per day. It is the only school in the community that provides 2 meals per day to the children.
We also have 11 current loans providing business opportunities to 61 parent/caregivers. Our goal is to give each parent/caregiver the opportunity for a loan.

Zambia Expansion Proposal
Currently, we have 253 students (orphans & vulnerable children) attending Lifesong School, serving Pre-School
up through Grade 7. Each year, we add a grade: Grade 8, then Grade 9, etc. Currently, we are maxed out in
classroom space and have no ability for 8th grade class. In Dec. 2011 we had 74 children register for 22 open
spots. It was heart breaking to tell a caregiver (who is pleading with us) we do not have room for their child. read more >>
