October 2010 Update

Please enjoy this update from our Lifesong Ethiopia directors, Gary Ifft:

10-10 Eth Update 1"School is now in session! We are happy to report that all three of our school campuses are successfully operating and approximately 430 young children are receiving the best education available in Ziway and Adami Tulu. Not only are they being well educated, but also each student is being fed a nutritious and balanced breakfast and lunch each school day.

10-10 Eth Update 2Recently we passed out new book bags to our students. 14-year-old Addisyn 10-10 ethiopia update 2raised a major part of the funds for these bags after she visited our Adami School with her mom this summer. I wish I could share with you all the suppressed excitement in those classrooms and the looks on the students' faces when they realized each one of them was going take a new bag home.

Recently one of our 3rd grade students lost her mother after a long illness (probably HIV). Her father died a while ago. Her uncle and his wife brought her in to discuss their living situation. They were trying to keep her mother's house to live in, but were unsure if they would be allowed to stay there. She sat quietly behind them, her head down. Surely the loss of a mother and the threatened loss of a home is more than any child should have to bear."

Please pray for this little girl, and the millions around the world like her. We are thankful your continued support as we strive to bring joy and purpose to orphans in Ethiopia!
