August 2010 Update

June 11th marked the celebration of “Student’s Day.” The most important part of the day was in recognizing students with grades above a 90%, of which nearly 100 were recognized!

Recently, we had our 4th Annual Alumni Conference. We were inspired as alumni shared struggles and how faith in God and values learned in Plan Escalon have helped them overcome. It’s a joy to provide continued support they can rely on and to see them catch our vision to “change the nation” for themselves. We know we are successful when our graduates, after living in the “safe” environment of our Lifesong program, walk in the convictions they were taught and make them their own when living in the “real” world.

July 20th marks Lempira Day, a national holiday to honor Lempira, the famous Indian. Each year the students celebrate this day with a competition for the best Native Indian costume, designed and decorated by the students at each grade level. Then they model the costume and explain the inspiration behind its design. Native foods are also made available to mark the occasion.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we strive to bring joy and purpose to orphans!
