January 2011 Update

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Ukraine director, Denis Poshelok:

The new camp has been an answer to prayer but has brought new prayer needs as well:

  • Two local groups, who are involved in cult practices, have approached volunteers and staff, making threats to kill people and burn down the building if Christian teachings continue on the sight.
  • Local authorities have questioned Denis on the nature of the camp and Lifesong ministry as a whole. Local elections have brought to power leaders who are radically anti-evangelical, which could cause problems in the future.

However God has been good in the midst of trial and camp sessions continue with success:

  • Campers had the opportunity to go to Kharkov Bread Plant, where bread for the entire city is made. (above)
  • A group of the toughest guys from Zap orphanage spent a week at our camp. It was a week full of challenges and little victories! (pictured is volunteer, Andre, and a camper)
  • "This is a dream come true to have such a wonderful place we all dreamed about and prayed for several years. Praise the Lord and thanks for everyone who supported and built such a place for the kids!" ~Ruslana, staff member and orphanage #4 graduate

We pray and we watch as God works, even though current situations may cause some fear. Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we strive to bring joy and purpose to orphans in Ukraine!
