June 2010 Update

“Before Christ can build a new nature within us, we must remove all that stand in His way. Our sinful nature is like a concrete wall: hard to destroy by ourselves, but with God’s help the wall will miraculously collapse. At Lifesong School, we are destroying walls in order to build.

Knocking Down WallsThis past month we knocked down the concrete that stood in the way of our new classroom block. I marveled at how quickly the walls came down.

We are also knocking down walls of disease, witchcraft, and despair in our children. As they learn to read, write, speak in English and do arithmetic; as they receive nutritious meals and the medical care they need; as they learn about Jesus and God’s plan for their lives they overcome the walls of despair and start to build new lives.

We praise God for the works we see in these lives and ask for continued prayers for Lifesong School staff, children and caregivers as walls come tumbling down and our children grow into disciples of Christ. Pray also for our construction projects, that the funding will be available for completion.

William“In April William was taken to CURE Clinic in Zambia, where he was given plaster casts on both feet. New casts were applied for three consecutive weeks and now William awaits corrective surgery.

William once asked his mother, ‘Why do other children walk on the bottoms of their feet? Why am I like this? What did you do to me?’ She told him that she didn’t do it, but that it was God. William said, ‘Then please tell God to fix me.’

We were amazed when the second casts were removed that William had mobility in both ankles which were previously frozen. It has been exciting to see William blossom in expectation of the walls of his disability tumbling down! His surgery is planned for June 17. We are so grateful to those who have been praying for this precious boy and have been raising funds to cover the costs. We now ask for continued prayer as he fights malaria and that God will heal him quickly and fully for surgery.”
