Grace is a girl who lives up to her name.
Though she has experienced trauma, loss, grief, and great uncertainty in her young life, her eyes are filled with light and her smile is radiant. She has grown into a lovely young woman with hopes and dreams.
She lives in God’s promise to be near to the brokenhearted.
Her father, who was a pastor, contracted the Ebola virus while ministering to others who were sick. He passed away after four days in the treatment center. After that, Grace and her young sister were not allowed to interact with anyone in the community. They were truly desolate when the Lifesong team reached out to them. They know what it is to grieve and mourn, to have to adjust to new everything. The heartbreak was overwhelming at times.
These days, there is a new spirit about Grace.
She was our first high school graduate last spring, and she began her teacher training in the fall. She became a teacher’s aide earlier this year. Recently, Grace has taken over the first grade classroom at one of our schools when the teacher had to resign. She will complete her teacher training next December, when she hopes to be certified.
How Grace Is Doing Today
Grace is now a leader and great role model to the younger children. She is currently working with a girls cheerleading group and has created choreography for the church dance team in the past. On Sundays, you will find her doing all the media ministry at church. Her three year old sister, Sarah, is blessed to have Grace still in her life, as they both live at the Rehab home.
We are so proud of Grace! She is a beautiful example of trusting God even in the darkest days, as she leans into His grace. Please pray with us, that her life would continue to bring glory to Jesus, who is her truest Friend!
Thank you for your faithful prayer, support, and love which–as the hands and feet of Jesus–makes Grace’s growth and success possible.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Give kids like Grace a future.
