Adoption, Foster Care & Global Initiatives // Summit 9

Summit 9

Three years ago, I had my first Summit experience. I had never been to an orphan conference of such size and was struck by the number of people present who all shared the same goal. To bring justice to the orphan.  I remember sitting in on Dr. Karyn Purvis’ session (Empowered to Connect) as she spoke about raising kids from hard places…Tom Davis (Children’s Hope Chest) sharing the efforts taken to rescue girls form the sex trade in Russia and Moldova…and my own team members from Lifesong for Orphans sharing with families the options to help overcome the financial barriers of adoption. I was absolutely amazed at the passion of the Body of Christ working together and giving opportunities to defend the orphan and the fatherless…locally and globally.  Honestly, I can’t wait to go back this year…and I hope to see you there! Whether you come with your church orphan ministry, fellow adoption mama’s, your … Continue reading

A Growing Potential // Lifesong Ukraine

We invite you to share a word of encouragement to our staff at Lifesong Ukraine. To do so, please comment on the blog or on our Facebook wall and it will be forwarded to our staff. Thank you in advance for your kind words of support! Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Ukraine, “I planted the seed…but it was God who made it grow.” 1 Corinthians 3:6 It was only a few years ago when Andrei and Sergei, two young men from Ukraine, graduated from the state orphanage they had been living in most of their lives. During their time at the orphanage, the Constant Christian Presence Program offered by Lifesong Ukraine staff impacted their hearts and they each decided to follow Jesus Christ.  Most aged-out orphans move into state dorms, known for encouraging poverty and crime. Sergei and Andrei chose a different p Denis, Lifesong Ukraine Director, Andrei, and … Continue reading

IMPACT of the Advent for Orphans

I’m sure many of you remember seeing last year’s Advent for Orphans, created by two high school girls with a new twist. Instead of eating a candy or doing a good deed, each day money would be put in a jar that was related to the number of household items you had. For example, give $1.00 for every toilet in your home. Along with this were two bible verses, one about the orphan and one about our Savior as we expectantly waited for Christmas! Thanks to the many of you who participated! We pray that it was a neat experience for your family as you prepared for Christmas and honored the orphan. We are delighted to share just a part of the IMPACT this years Advent for Orphans calendar had on Blake & Christine’s family. Listen in… Upon collecting our money in an old Mason jar, my son Ale(xander) and … Continue reading

Thanks for a Blessed Year!

Before we fully jump into 2013 with new goals & adventures, we want to stop, reflect and THANK YOU for the role you played in the past year–role of active advocacy, faithful prayer warrior, generous donor, Facebook fan, Journey-Bag filler or church fund partner. You know who you are! We value, appreciate and sincerely thank you for serving beside us as we seek to give GOD THE GLORY while bringing JOY & PURPOSE to His children. Each gift given, no matter how big or small, made an impact on a child’s life…and for that we THANK YOU!  Thanks for Giving from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo

“God does the impossible!” // Family Friday

I love Family Fridays. I love peaking into the lives of amazing Christian families who love God and desire their lives to be His. Who love Him so much that they would want to replicate His picture of adoption in their family. A family much like Travis & Shannon’s. Already parents to 4 kiddos, one from Ethiopia, they heard God telling them their family picture wasn’t complete. Through We started out our adoption journey with 3 boys and 1 girl. We really prayed about being gender specific but felt God tell us to let him have the control. Our 9 year old daughter prayed for a sister the whole time. When we got the call that “somehow” the wait list for both genders  had evened out and we were getting a girl, our 9 yr old daughter screamed and jumped and ran all over the house! It was a God moment to … Continue reading

A Fresh Start

Leah Feller

2013. The new year seems to be the perfect time to turn over a new leaf, start afresh and move forward with renewed purpose and vision. Like me, I’m sure many of you look forward to this new year with  an “out with the old & in with the new”-attitude. As an organization, we’ve made some new goals too! We want this blog to not only be a channel to receive our ministry’s updates or a platform to tell stories, but also a community where resources are offered and discussed, leaving you encouraged and equipped. With a goal of creating community, we thought a good place to start would be to officially introduce myself, Leah Feller, the voice behind this blog… I originally “caught the Lifesong vision” in college while on two consecutive summer trips to Lifesong Ukraine.  My heart connected with that vision and I later joined the Lifesong team. Now, 3 years later, I serve … Continue reading
