“I know you guys!” // Family Friday

IMG_1118 edit

We were excited to partner with Robert & Alexis for a second time as they brought home their son Jacob from Korea. I couldn’t help but smile as I read through their adoption testimony, so easily seeing the picture as they told of their first meeting with their son Jacob.  The picture reminded me of our Heavenly Father and how even though now we see in a mirror dimly, one day, like Jacob, we will see Him face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12). Our wait to bring Jacob home was very long. We had spent a year and a half looking at picturesof him growing up and reading about what milestones he was reaching. It was a long, hard wait. Finally we got our travel call, and we were on our way. The first time we met Jacob, we walked into the room he was in, and after looking at … Continue reading

“The Lord met all of our needs…” // Family Friday

March 2012 (week after adoption) 003

Just this week we received a lovely thank you from Matt and Kelly, a Lifesong family who were given a Lifesong Legacy Loan to help bring their son Jeriah home from Thailand. They included their loan repayment making it possible for Lifesong to give out a loan to ANOTHER family, like them, who are bringing a child into a forever family! Thank you Matt & Kelly for letting us walk this adoption journey with you. Praying that God’s hand will continue to rest on your family as you grow and live in Him! It is with great joy that we are sending this check to pay back the loan you so graciously granted us for our adoption of our son, Jeriah. At the beginning of this long process, the cost overwhelmed us. And yet, the Lord has met all of our needs in truly wonderful ways. We know that God … Continue reading

Family Brings Son Home from Russia // Family Friday

As many of you know, there has been some recent changes in Russia’s adoption laws that has brought some sadness, leaving futures for many unknown and unsettled. We’ve been reminded again, as Christians, to be instant in prayer for the Russian governmental officials, the tens of thousands of orphans and their waiting families. Let’s also pray for the Christian Church in Russia, our brothers and sisters, to step-up and support indigenous adoption in their own countries.  And in the midst of our prayers, let’s praise God for the child from Russia He brought into a forever family this last weekend! Phillip and Ann, Lifesong Adoptive Family, brought home their two-year-old son, Chance. It was a long journey with many hurdles, but God made a way!! Join me in rejoicing in this beautiful miracle! We pray that through sharing this story other families will be encouraged to persevere in their adoption journey and … Continue reading

Katie Rescued from Orphanage! // Family Friday

7 months home

It’s hard to know where to start! There is so much to say about Joe and Susanna’s adoption journey to their daughter Katie. Katie, born with down syndrome, was 9 years old when they adopted her, weighing only 10 pounds. You see, many orphanages across Eastern Europe very commonly place special needs children in orphanages at birth.  Depending on the child and country, they are eventually moved to an adult mental institution, where as Susanna explains “aren’t fit for dogs.”  Children are often severely neglected and deprived of human contact.  How this must break the heart of our kind, loving and compassionate Father God… Praise God that Katie was adopted! Praise God that she is eating and growing and bring JOY to her family! Praise God that Joe &  Susanna obeyed God’s call to defend the orphan! Praise God that He keeps His promises to set the lonely into families. Praise God… We are … Continue reading

God Made a Way // Family Friday

Screen shot 2013-01-24 at 2.32.44 PM

We’re stepping out of the norm today!  Instead of sharing a post-adoptive story, I invite you to listen in as John & Josee Waller, adoptive family of a sibling group from Ukraine (Max, Anna & Olha), share their pre-adoptive story!  The Waller’s, already parents to 5 children, felt God clearly directing them towards adoption. John & Josee were able to meet Max & Anna through a summer hosting program and have made a video sharing how God mightily worked in their hearts through this journey.   We are thankful, through the support of our Church Fund Partners, to be able to financially support this family’s adoption! John & Josee leave TOMORROW for Ukraine and we ask that you would cover their trip and family in prayer!  Update since video production from John & Josee: “We discovered Max and Anna have a 12-year-sister, Olha, that we found about a month before our first trip. They have … Continue reading

“God’s faithfulness has been seen…” // Family Friday

IMG_6078

One less orphan. One more child that has a mom, dad, brothers and sisters. God is good! We rejoice with Gabe, Shelley and their family as they brought Emmanuel from Ghana into their forever family! Our experience with Lifesong was a blessing.  We enjoyed all the adoption resources they provided, and it was so easy to direct people to our account for donations.   Having a separate impartial God-honoring ministry facilitate the funding for our adoption was a blessing.  We God’s faithfulness has been seen throughout our entire process.  We should not be able to pay for another adoption this soon (adopted in 2010) when numbers are on paper.  But God provided each payment as they came due. Thank you for the ministry you provide. What a blessing!believe it helped our family and friends to be even more generous. –Gabriel & Shelley, Lifesong Adoptive Family Learn more about Lifesong’s Adoption Funding.

Before we fully jump into 2013 with new goals & adventures, we want to stop, reflect and THANK YOU for the role you played in the past year–role of active advocacy, faithful prayer warrior, generous donor, Facebook fan, Journey-Bag filler or church fund partner. You know who you are! We value, appreciate and sincerely thank you for serving beside us as we seek to give GOD THE GLORY while bringing JOY & PURPOSE to His children. Each gift given, no matter how big or small, made an impact on a child’s life…and for that we THANK YOU!  Thanks for Giving from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo
