Serving Orphans In

Cambodia

Our ministry in Cambodia seeks to reach children and migrant families with the Gospel.

We offer Christ-centered hope to impoverished children by sharing the Gospel and providing a way out of the hopeless situation found in migrant construction sites and slum communities. By providing children with proper care, education, and discipleship, our hope is that they will become tomorrow’s missionaries and leaders in Cambodia.

Why We Serve in Cambodia

Over 30 years of political and civil unrest means Cambodia is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world. And so, by extension, Cambodian children are some of the most vulnerable children in the world.

Nearly 600,000 children have been orphaned due to AIDS, malnutrition, or poverty.

Cambodian children face a number of ongoing challenges. Child trafficking, child labor, and significant malnutrition are high on the list. Specifically, as many as 40% of children in Cambodia under age 5 are malnourished. Because many families cannot care for their children, they end up releasing them to live on the streets.

What We Strive to Provide to Every Child We Serve

Our belief in God and His grace in our lives energizes us for a specific work. With God’s help, every child we serve will be taught the gospel and how to be followers of Christ, not want for food, shelter, medical care, and clothing, receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future, and have access to continued love and support while transitioning into adult living.

Areas of Ministry in Cambodia

Discipleship

Discipleship is a part of our daily routines in each of our homes. Each morning, the children rise before school to read the Bible, pray, and worship. We end each day with corporate Bible study and worship, led by student leaders and staff members. Throughout the week, our doors are open to children from local communities to take part in special classes and events focused on spiritual development.

Education

Our education goals are threefold. First, we seek to ensure children have the reading and writing skills necessary to enter government schools. Second, we seek to provide the necessary resources, including uniforms, books, and supplies, to children who need them. Finally, we offer practical support and enrichment through our learning centers. We provide homework help and specialized computer, English and music classes.

Sustainable Business

We have developed business opportunities, such as a small restaurant, music school, and a cell phone repair shop for two reasons. First, formal education is not a practical option for some of the older students we meet in local communities and villages. Second, many university graduates still have trouble finding steady income. We continue to explore the possibility of adding more businesses in the future, with a particular focus on agriculture.
