5 Quick Thoughts for the Weary

5-thoughts-for-the-weary

In the midst of another long week? Here are 5 quick thoughts to consider when you are weary– 1. God delights to use dust. “God loves to take the dust of our shattered places and do something miraculous with it.” –Lysa TerKeurst, Proverbs 31 Ministries 2. God desires to draw you close. “Stay close to the heart of the Father; that is what the world needs most from you.” –Jedd Medefind, author and president of Christian Alliance for Orphans 3. God loves you perfectly. “Christ’s love compels us. It is inexhaustible.” –Steven Curtis Chapman, singer, song writer, and founder of Show Hope 4. God is enough.  “Do not make yourself the center of your story. Let others see Jesus at the center.” — Peter Greer, president and CEO of HOPE International 5. God gives grace. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will … Continue reading

5 Things to Take Away from CAFO2016

Famata

The yearly CAFO Summit has become the national hub for what Christianity Today called, “the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.” This year’s conference–like those before it–was a success, drawing hundreds of foster, adoptive, and orphan advocates from around the world. Together with pastors and leaders we explored relevant topics and prayed to the Father of the fatherless on behalf of the forgotten. Here are 5 statements from #CAFO2016 that resonated with listeners– 1. “Why are we here? It is not guilt or duty or even idealism that draws us here. We love because He first loved us.” (Jedd Medefind). This same truth that motivated us to attend CAFO Summit should motivate us to love and serve the fatherless every day. We do it because He did it. 2. “It isn’t the grandeur or the girth. It’s the growing, stretching, and reaching under the surface. To persevere, the Sequoia grows down, not up.” (Jedd Medefind). Each … Continue reading

You Are Invited: 3 Reasons to Go to CAFO2016 Summit

Screen Shot 2016-02-23 at 1.35.47 PM

As the newly minted Communications Coordinator here at Lifesong for Orphans, I was given the opportunity to attend last year’s CAFO (Christian Alliance for Orphans) Summit in Spring 2015. I had no idea what to expect, but as an adoptee and an adoptive parent, I was hopeful I would come away from the conference with personal takeaways as well as professional. I could never have anticipated how God would use the conference in my life. If you have a heart for the fatherless, here are 3 reasons I believe you should make every effort to attend CAFO2016 Summit: 1. You will be encouraged. The foster care/adoption journey can be isolating. I get it. My husband and I spent 30 months stuck in adoption limbo after being matched with our oldest son, and our story is not entirely unique. Last year’s conference drew 2,500 foster and adoptive parents, orphan advocates, pastors, and leaders … Continue reading

Host a LIVE Simulcast {Empowered to Connect Conference}

EmpoweringREDO

  The Empowered to Connect Conference on April 10-11, 2015 will feature researchers from Texas Christian University and experts in the field of research-based interviews for children from hard places. It will be an invaluable experience for professionals and families alike who seek to provide hope and healing to children who have been adopted or are fostered.  If you have experienced the transformation this conference can have on a family, offer this event to your friends and family…to your community.  Priced low ($199.99 for every church or adoption ministry), this simulcast is an opportunity to provide support to these families where most communities lack the experience, the expertise and the answers to those in desperate need for help and guidance.  Let your local pastor, counselor, social worker or ministry leader know about this special opportunity to host the Empowered to Connect Conference Simulcast!
