Battle of the Chefs: Cambodia Update and Opportunity

Cambodia-email-header

God continues to do big things for the children of Cambodia and Thailand, and we are blessed to have a front row seat to His work.  Specifically, 40 Cambodian and Burmese children now gather daily at the Construction of Hope Project in Bangpli, Thailand, to receive education, skills training, and discipleship. With the recent start-up of several new and exciting programs, this summer has produced a vibrant display of their unique talents and abilities. The recently-developed cooking class, for example, has not only produced many tasty treats, but it has also revealed the culinary and leadership potential in Chris, Amy, and Joseph. . As the oldest students in the program, these three young people each lead a team of mini-chefs that go head-to-head each week to see who can produce the most delicious dish. Not only does this encourage team spirit and fun competition amongst peers, but it builds relationships … Continue reading

Meet Children with Radical Courage to Hope | Cambodia Update

Countries- map

Every morning in Bangpli, the children gather to share testimonies of how God is working in their lives. How humbling it is to hear from children who have suffered deep hurts or horrific losses, yet they joyfully share personal examples of the goodness of God in their circumstances. These kids have already learned to hold their lives and possessions with open hands–accepting as from God every good and perfect gift. David, whose story we have been privileged to share in the past, is often eager to contribute. Originally from Myanmar, he began working on a fishing boat when he was just 7 years old. Now 11, he has been living for the past couple of years on various construction sites in Thailand. After being found by Pastor Vino during an outreach to his construction site a year ago, David has become a leader among the other children, and is part of the student evangelism team. These children go out regularly … Continue reading

What Do Valentine’s Day and Christmas Have in Common? | Cambodia Update

Countries- map

Holidays allow us to celebrate, but also to redeem opportunities for sharing God’s love and making new connections. In countries like Cambodia where many people do not yet know about Christmas, believers take the opportunity to celebrate Jesus’ birth long into the new year. In Bangpli, Thailand, for instance, Pastor Vino and his church people are still taking full advantage of using gift boxes filled with school supplies, hygiene products, and tiny toys to develop new connections with children and families in need. For Pastor Vino, the Christmas holiday is a tool to share the love of Jesus with those who still need it. HELP A CHILD IN NEED The good news? Children of migrant workers from previously unreached construction sites are now joining the learning center at the church, and whole families are coming to evening worship services to hear more about the love of Christ that has captured the heart of Pastor … Continue reading

Meet David | Cambodia

Countries- map

Your prayerful support helps take the hope of the gospel to children in need. Meet one of those children. David is the son of migrant construction workers from Myanmar. He has been a part of Pastor Vino’s church and learning center for the past year. In addition to growing physically and mentally through the education and nutrition initiatives at the church, David is quickly developing into a strong leader. Slow to speak but quick to pray, David leads by example through exhibiting gentleness and kindness with the other children. He loves times of worship in the church and leads his family in worship each night at their camp on the construction site. Recently, David shared a testimony of answered prayer. After missing the daily truck that came to pick up him and other children from their camp at the construction site, David decided to walk the 4 kilometers (approximately 2.5 miles) to … Continue reading

Next Generation Leaders | Cambodia Update

Arriving in Takeo from Phnom Penh

Enjoy this update from our Cambodia team– In our learning center in Bangpli, Thailand, one of the main goals is developing young leaders that have a heart for reaching their own community. The kids are given responsibilities that not only affect the other children at the learning center–but their families and other people in need. Chris, age 13, is responsible for helping Joel, the 3-year old son of a Pakistani Pastor who has been jailed, assimilate into the activities in the church, including helping him with basic skills such as eating and drinking on his own. David (left), one of the assistant leaders, has a heart for evangelism and prayer and loves to pray for God’s blessing over anyone he comes in contact with, especially during outreach ministry. David’s mother, Kai, recently gave birth and is part of a new ministry outreach through Pastor Vino that helps ensure pregnant women in … Continue reading
