Meet Charity: Future World Changer

friends

Charity could never have guessed all that God had planned for her life when she first began attending Lifesong School in Garneton, Zambia. Though she was just a little girl in primary school, she was already well-acquainted with heartache and struggle. Her dad lost his job, for instance, and he could no longer provide for the family. Additionally, she had to move out of her parents’ home and live with her sister who was already a busy wife and mom. Despite the best efforts of a family who loved each other, life wasn’t easy and daily needs went unmet. Charity heard about a school in Garneton with a reputation for offering a good education and she wanted to attend. She hoped Lifesong School might be the ticket she needed to pursue a brighter future. So she applied, was accepted, and willingly walked the hour and a half each way to attend classes. When she arrived–without shoes, books, or … Continue reading

Bright Hope for Tomorrow | Zambia Update

Zambia-header

Richard and his mother and grandmother live in a small house in the nearby village. 15 people live in the house together. His grandfather died 2 years ago after a long illness. His father has been gone for a few years. Richard had the opportunity to attend Lifesong School for the past 3 years, but Richard needs the opportunity to transition into a different environment to give him a chance to succeed outside the classroom. The only person working to support the family is Richard’s grandmother, Kenia. She has been employed at Lifesong Farms for 3 years and faithfully gives what she has to support a large family. At Lifesong School we make a promise to “our children.” Specifically, we pledge that our children will– not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter be taught the Gospel and how to live as followers of Jesus Christ receive a quality education to provide a … Continue reading

Join Us for an Opportunity to Serve in Zambia

2017 Zambia Work Team header

YOU are invited to join us on a mission trip. On a strawberry farm in the heart of Africa, a team of enthusiastic volunteers is gathering to use their resources, skills, and abilities … and you are invited to participate. Lifesong Farms is a thriving, sustainable business that provides finances to maintain Lifesong School for Orphans as well as provide jobs for dedicated orphan caregivers. As these hardworking caregivers have loved the fatherless, God has blessed the strawberry and fruit farm immeasurably–sending abundant harvest to be sold in top local grocery stores, restaurants, and markets. While this agricultural opportunity has provided for some of the world’s most vulnerable–while simultaneously being salt and light to a community that desperately needs a hopeful future in Christ–we know there is much more work to be done.   Specifically, the basic need for a lavatory would go a long way in caring for the caregivers. Our … Continue reading

Wanted: More People to Help Kids Like Davison

IMG_0458

For children sponsored in Zambia, attending school is a privilege, not a burden. In poverty-stricken communities like Kitwe, children are often left to fend for themselves while parents desperately search for ways to feed and care for the family. Without proper motivation, many children end up dropping out of school, leaving little to no hope of breaking the poverty cycle. “The compound”–as it is called by people in the community–can be a place of violence, crime, or abuse, certainly not a good environment for students to thrive in their education or grow in their relationship with Christ. With your help, Lifesong Zambia established a school almost a decade ago for the purpose of providing over 300 orphaned and vulnerable children with a quality Christian education. Additionally–through the vision and funding of people like you–Student Life Homes were constructed to serve as a safe haven for older students who lived in the compound. For many kids, sponsorship to Lifesong School is … Continue reading

Today Is a Big Day in Zambia!

Zambia Students

Nervous energy and new uniforms signal a very important event: 400 students at Lifesong Zambia go back to school today. We are excited about this year for several reasons. First, the new uniforms are sky blue instead of green. Second, this year marks our first year having a Grade 12 class graduating! Finally, this year marks 10 years Lifesong School has been here in Zambia. 10 years! God’s continued goodness is truly astounding. Our hope for this year is that we continue living out our mission of bringing joy and purpose to orphans and vulnerable children by discipling future leaders of Zambia through Biblical truth and educational excellence. — Skip Stallings, Lifesong Zambia staff Another example of God’s kindness?–This past year, every single one of the Grade 7 students passed their exams! This is the direct result of disciplined study, dedicated teaching, and the daily prayers of people around the world. The students … Continue reading

Standing in the Sun: Bright Futures in Zambia

Zambia_7-2016-06840

Choosing career, getting married, having children… From the time you were knee-high, you were likely asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and you had the luxury of changing your answers as often as you changed your clothes. Getting an education wasn’t an “if,” but a “when,” and staying healthy was generally as simple as making a quick trip to the doctor or pharmacy. Not so for children in Zambia. Though blessed with resilience and determination, children in poverty-stricken communities like Kitwe are often left to fend for themselves, eventually dropping out of school and seeking acceptance wherever it can be found. Without access to vocational training or health care, many of these children have little hope to break the poverty cycle or enjoy the privilege of planning a bright future. Your prayerful support provides education, housing, and healthcare for children in Zambia. Lifesong School continues to thrive as one of the best schools in … Continue reading
