Reenacting the Way (of Jesus)

Screen shot 2013-03-06 at 1.15.19 PM

How can you follow Jesus when you don’t know what he was doing? Jesus’ most mysterious actions were making culturally relevant statements in his time. We can figure out what they meant and do the same today.  Reenacting the Way (of Jesus) answers each one of these questions and more. Author, speaker and professor Dr. Paul T Penley takes us beyond Jesus’ sayings and answers tough questions about his doings using brand new biblical and historical research. Readers will find that Jesus’ actions were making culturally relevant statements to his contemporaries. And we can do the same today. We are absolutely honored that Dr. Penley would chose to mention Lifesong for Orphans in his new book, Reenacting The Way (of Jesus). Listen in to his thoughts explaining his mention… Lifesong for Orphans is getting it right. The holistic care, revenue-generating projects, and support for orphans transitioning to adult life are just … Continue reading

God Sets the Lonely in Families… // February Mission Moment

13-2 MM Email

Faith. Family. Home.In caring for orphans, our hope is to instil faith, family and a sense of home deep into the hearts of every child we are blessed to serve. Please enjoy this month’s Mission Moment highlighting the fruit of God’s work through us.  Baptized in the Name of the ONE True God… In a country where the worship of many gods is commonplace, lives of children are being changed and transformed by the working of Jesus Christ, the ONE true God. Lifesong India provides homes for almost 600 children who are all being exposed to the gospel of our loving, merciful and kind Father God. Baptism has always been a powerful symbol of Christianity. This symbol is especially notable in this culture because through this outward testimony of faith, children are publicly turning away from false gods to rely only on Jesus! Witness the baptism of the girls from … Continue reading

We invite you to share a word of encouragement to our staff at Lifesong India. To do so, please comment on the blog or on our Facebook wall and it will be forwarded to our staff. Thank you in advance for your kind words of support! Please enjoy this update from Bob Stoll, Lifesong India Director… “He raises the poor out of the dust and the needy out of the dunghill.” Psalm 113:7 This psalm describes exactly what God has been doing in our Lifesong for Orphans homes in India. The psalm comes alive and is fulfilled because of your love and your obedience to the Holy Spirit. Most of the children cared for in our homes are from the lowest caste and are truly destitute. Illiteracy, ignorance, caste discrimination and abuse have made impossible any hope of escape. But, in each of our homes, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is changing the lives of … Continue reading

Thank you in advance for your kind words of support! Please enjoy this update from Emmanuel Jones, Lifesong Liberia Director… The Home of Champions at Marshall is undertaking a garden project for the second year.  Children from the 4th-6th grades are presently planting water greens, sweet potato greens and sweet corn.  The greens will be used in the children’s meals.  This project is also intended to teach the children farming and gardening skills.  We learned a great deal last year, and hope to have better success this time. At the Rehab home, spiritual development has been our emphasis for the past month.  Our aim is to help children develop a personal relationship with the Lord and to keep that relationship growing.  … Continue reading

Beauty from Ashes // Lifesong Liberia

We invite you to share a word of encouragement to our staff at Lifesong Liberia. To do so, please comment on this post or our Facebook wall and it will be forwarded to our staff. Thank you in advance for your kind words of support! Keith & Kay Knapp, Lifesong Liberia liaisons, share updates from Liberia: Meet Hans Togbah, 11 years old and in the first grade. Hans was one of the first children to live at the Home of Champions-Rehab. His mother died of HIV, and his father is unknown, leaving no one to care for him. After several years, he went to live with a neighbor, a friend of his mother’s. Hans lived with her for nine months, but has now been returned to the orphanage. He was sick and neglected, and hadn’t been to school in some time. Hans is now getting stronger, attending school and dreams … Continue reading
