“We thought our family was complete” // Family Friday

maddie

I was blessed to meet Adam & Amy several years ago at an adoption conference. With hearts of gold, they have brought 7 children into their home through adoption. We are honored here at Lifesong to have helped bring home 4 of those children though financial partnership! Recently, they brought home Maddie, a 6-year-old sweetie from Bulgaria. Listen in to their story… We adopted our oldest daughter from the US foster care system, and then were blessed with three biological children. We thought our family was complete, but then God used a precious little boy in Hong Kong named Ivan to break our hearts for special needs orphans internationally.  After Ivan joined our family, we found ourselves traveling the world adding more precious treasures to our family through the miracle of adoption; Blair from Hong Kong, Albertine from Liberia, and Sam, Luke, and Irina from Ukraine. A year ago, we became … Continue reading

Family Friday: “…confident in His ultimate provision…”

Meet Wes & Kellee. Their adoption story began in Kellee’s prayer group. When a woman in her group came home from a mission trip to an orphanage in Beijing, China, she shared with their group about a special little boy with Spina Bifida who had captured her heart.  She asked for their group to pray that he could find a “forever family.”  Kellee and the rest of the women prayed diligently for this little boy for two years.  During this time Kellee began to feel that God was telling her that they were to become his forever family.  She brought home a picture of him and as a family they prayed for him every night.  Over time, Wes & Kellee knew God was leading them in this direction.  Three months ago, they were able to bring home 7-year-old, David, home into their forever family! Listen in as they share their … Continue reading

Matching Gift & Give-a-Way! – Village of Hope

**New Opportunity** We invite you to share a word of encouragement to our staff at Village of Hope-Guatemala. To do so, please comment on this blog or on our Facebook wall and it will be forwarded to our staff. Thank you in advance for your kind words of support! Please enjoy this update from Village of Hope-Guatemala, Every child deserves a safe place where they can be a kid. A place where they can freely problem solve, use their imagination, develop physical strength, coordination and balance. A place where they can grow, dream, imagine, explore and gain a sense of self. For many children in Guatemala this is nonexistent. Many of the children here lose their childhood too quickly due to the stress of just trying to survive.   (photo credit)    The children who come to Village of Hope often have lived in desperate poverty and will for the first time have a safe, … Continue reading

Help William Walk…

Meet William. William was born with club feet, a condition easily fixed at birth in the states, but often left untreated in parts of the world that do not have the financial or medical capabilities to perform surgery.  He is one of our little guys who attends the Lifesong school in Zambia.  A team from central Illinois visited this past January and their hearts were touched by the sadness in William’s eyes as he stood on the sidelines watching the other children run and play.  Touched as they saw him carried over a mile by his older brother to school.  Touched as he walked completely on the sides of his feet.  So touched that they, along with others, have been moved to action in seeking medical help for William. They are in the process of contacting doctors both in the US and Zambia figuring out the legal, medical and financial issues of … Continue reading
