Joy of Easter: An Adoption Story

Seeing the title of this post, you might think we are a week behind. But, as you heard from Scott and Heidi, today is Good Friday in Ethiopia leading into their Easter weekend.

What a special time for God to show His great faithfulness and steadfast love to Scott and Heidi as they adopted Zion and Fisher into their forever family. read more >>

Connected to Serve

They sat in the studio with an expectant glow as they spoke about their children they had yet to meet, but who they claimed as their very own...

Josh: “As unbelievers, we are aliens. We are strangers. We are separated from God. But God has come in and adopted us, through Christ, to be in His family.” read more >>

What do you do when the Holy Spirit puts a desire on your heart, but the way seems impossible?

In the fall of 2008, Michael and Lisa wanted to follow God’s call to adopt, but financially they needed help. That’s when they turned to Lifesong for Orphans and got in contact with Louisville Oprhan Care Alliance (formerly LOCI). read more >>

The Mihnovich Family

“At last our amazing children are with us! When we pulled through the gate at their orphanage, a nanny came running out and hugged me as soon as I got out of the van. She was saying, “You came, you came, you did come!” Our children came running followed by all the other kids at the orphanage. We hugged and kissed each other. They called us ‘Mama’ and ‘Daddy’. It is so very clear that God has been preparing their little hearts to be our children!” read more >>

One Sunday during the 2007 football season...

...our oldest daughter Ryan blessed our ‘hot wings halftime meal’ with a prayer. ‘Dear God, even if my parents keep saying that they have to think about it… please show them their calling to adopt’. Wow, we thought we were thanking God for the wings! read more >>

God touched Chad and Jennifer Strawn's heart...

...to pursue the adoption of a child with special needs. When they came across Ming Ming’s profile, they knew this child had been chosen for them. They named Ming Ming, Charli Grace. Charli Grace had a medical condition that limited her vision, but Chad and Jennifer found hope in John 9:1-3. read more >>

"I will move ahead, bold and confident, taking every step in obedience..."

On July 20, 2009, Randy and Candice held their baby girl for the first time. They were able to kiss her cheeks, feel her hand wrap around their finger, tell her they have loved her, even before she was born. The journey to Korea to meet their daughter was a long road filled with surrendering and obedience to their own Heavenly Father. read more >>

"I want to adopt!"

The words came out in an instant, but God had been working in Teresa’s heart for a long time. She had felt the “nudging” of the Holy Spirit ever since they moved into their home. Teresa and Dennis always felt that this home, with its huge yard, was too large for their family of 6. read more >>

"God sets the lonely into families..." Psalms 68:5,6

We are excited to introduce the newest member of our Lifesong family, Hope Tizita Lehman. Hope was adopted by our vice president, Andy Lehman and his wife Jill. When they went to Ethiopia to bring their new daughter home, they had the privilege of meeting Hope's biological father, Abayneh. At this emotion-filled meeting, Andy and Jill handed Abayneh a double hinged frame that had a picture of their family on one side and a picture of Hope on the other. read more >>

I was only 15 when I first came to America...

...(in 2003) and met the family I would be staying with. They had 4 children of their own, and they really didn't plan to adopt me. They were only supposed to keep me until somebody wanted to adopt me, but after a month of doing things together and having so much fun, we got very attached to each other. They asked me if I liked it here and, of course, I said yes. One of the days I even told the family that I loved them, and that is when they decided to start adoption papers. read more >>

If you would have asked...

...Drew and Bekah Moser at the beginning of their adoption process what the toughest part would be, they would have answered without hesitation, “the money.” They knew the paperwork would be tedious and the waiting hard, but they assumed the $30,000 price tag would be their greatest hurdle. Amazingly, God has provided just what they have needed each step of the way. Lifesong was privileged to come alongside of the Mosers with a matching grant
which helped stimulate the generous giving they have received from friends and family. read more >>
