Meet our Advocates
If you are interested in becoming an Orphan Advocate, please contact us.
There is no better way to experience Lifesong’s holistic approach to Christ centered community development and the excellence in which they serve God’s creation than to see it firsthand. Meeting the American and Zambian staff, the children and the members of the community provides great perspective. During my time in Kitwe, Zambia I became keenly aware that Lifesong is exceptional not just because of its extraordinary people, but because of their humility and obedience to the calling they received. The wisdom and forward thinking of Lifesong’s board, its staff and its willingness to partner with Zambian nationals were displayed in the multifaceted approaches to orphan care, community development, and disciple making. The emphasis on sustainability through Lifesong Farms and other sustainable business ventures was impressive to say the least.

I grew up in a home with parents that loved children. They loved them so much in fact that they fostered 15 children, taking them into their home and helping raise them (eventually adopting one of them). My wife Juli and I have a similar heart for children in need. We adopted Anna, a baby girl from Ethiopia in 2010 and that’s where our heart for Ethiopia and its people began.
I met Andy Lehman from Lifesong for Orphans on the plane ride home from an adoption conference in Texas. I shared with him about Village to Village International (a non-profit organization I started with Matt Borst to help families raise money for adoption), and he shared with me the mission of Lifesong for Orphans.
Since that time, we have become involved as advocates for Lifesong Ethiopia and have traveled on the Lifesong Vision Team. My chiropractic business gives 10% of its income towards a few choice organizations, and Lifesong for Orphans has been one of those recipients ever since I learned of its cause and passion for orphan care.

“Lifesong goes hard for the Lord 24.7.365 in loving and caring for orphans and vulnerable children. Blessed to partner with them as they bring joy & purpose to children around the globe. BeastMode advocacy!”
“Life was good for me. I was in the big leagues which was a childhood dream that I thought was not even possible. Not only did I make the big leagues, but I was having success there. I was a World Series Champ (2003) for the Florida Marlins. By the time I was 27, I had over 1,000 hits and was on pace for 3,000 which is a huge milestone in baseball. Only 28 players have ever accomplished this feat. Up to this point, I had played in every single game of the season for 5 years in a row (800+ games). I never sat out and never wanted to. Needless to say, baseball was my IDOL. I put it before everything including God.” Read Juan’s full testimony on BeastModeforChrist.com.

It has been our great privilege to serve as liaisons for the Lifesong Liberia projects. When we first arrived in Liberia in 2009, we knew that only God could have orchestrated such an unlikely connection. We immediately fell in love with the children and staff, who asked so little and exhibited such great faith. Our hearts have been intertwined ever since. We have seen God do amazing things, and we are forever changed. Truly, is God’s heart that his children “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3.

We’re thankful to have a team of advocates and Christian families who have adopted from Ethiopia partner with our Lifesong Ethiopia project. Together they have raised over $600,000 for facilities and found sponsorship for more than 400 of our students. These families didn’t stop at bringing a child into their home, their heart is to change their child’s homeland from the inside out! Learn more at zatproject.com.
Lifesong is an avenue for my family to share what God has blessed us with and be actively involved in spreading the love of Jesus Christ to other people and nations. Recently God spoke 1 Timothy 6:7 to me, “I brought nothing into this world and it is certain that I can take nothing out”, Lifesong is one way that allows me to try and fulfill this verse. Together with God’s help we can changes lives and give hope to the hopeless. I love the 100% pledge concept and also the concept of teaching the needy that with God’s help and a willingness to trust God and put forth effort that God will help them. Through Lifesong many people can come to know Jesus Christ and also become leaders for Him in their respective countries.

Being a financial contributor to, an orphan advocate for and a board member of Lifesong for Orphans these past several years has been one of the most blessed experiences of my life. As an adoptee myself, it has been so inspiring and gratifying to see first-hand in Ukraine and in others the lives that have been transformed as God has used the resources of Lifesong to further our mission of bringing joy and purpose into the lives of orphans. I cannot think of anything more fulfilling and rewarding that I could be doing with the time and money that God has allowed me to have. The Lord has truly blessed the work being done and multiplied my humble contributions and those of others many times over.

It is a blessing to serve on the Lifesong board and to be an advocate for orphans. We have been able to look into the eyes of orphan child and see their desire to be loved. We have also enjoyed the blessing of seeing an orphan join their forever family. We thank God for the opportunity to serve Him thru Lifesong.

Organizing the One Day-One Lunch Campaign taught me that even if we are only 17 years old and a missionary kid without a whole lot, we are still able to change someones life when we are willing to try.
