I grew up in a home with parents that loved children. They loved them so much in fact that they fostered 15 children, taking them into their home and helping raise them (eventually adopting one of them). My wife Juli and I have a similar heart for children in need. We adopted Anna, a baby girl from Ethiopia in 2010 and that’s where our heart for Ethiopia and its people began.
I met Andy Lehman from Lifesong for Orphans on the plane ride home from an adoption conference in Texas. I shared with him about Village to Village International (a non-profit organization I started with Matt Borst to help families raise money for adoption), and he shared with me the mission of Lifesong for Orphans.
Since that time, we have become involved as advocates for Lifesong Ethiopia and have traveled on the Lifesong Vision Team. My chiropractic business gives 10% of its income towards a few choice organizations, and Lifesong for Orphans has been one of those recipients ever since I learned of its cause and passion for orphan care.

Lifesong is an avenue for my family to share what God has blessed us with and be actively involved in spreading the love of Jesus Christ to other people and nations. Recently God spoke 1 Timothy 6:7 to me, “I brought nothing into this world and it is certain that I can take nothing out”, Lifesong is one way that allows me to try and fulfill this verse. Together with God’s help we can changes lives and give hope to the hopeless. I love the 100% pledge concept and also the concept of teaching the needy that with God’s help and a willingness to trust God and put forth effort that God will help them. Through Lifesong many people can come to know Jesus Christ and also become leaders for Him in their respective countries.

Being a financial contributor to, an orphan advocate for and a board member of Lifesong for Orphans these past several years has been one of the most blessed experiences of my life. As an adoptee myself, it has been so inspiring and gratifying to see first-hand in Ukraine and in others the lives that have been transformed as God has used the resources of Lifesong to further our mission of bringing joy and purpose into the lives of orphans. I cannot think of anything more fulfilling and rewarding that I could be doing with the time and money that God has allowed me to have. The Lord has truly blessed the work being done and multiplied my humble contributions and those of others many times over.

It is a blessing to serve on the Lifesong board and to be an advocate for orphans. We have been able to look into the eyes of orphan child and see their desire to be loved. We have also enjoyed the blessing of seeing an orphan join their forever family. We thank God for the opportunity to serve Him thru Lifesong.

Organizing the One Day-One Lunch Campaign taught me that even if we are only 17 years old and a missionary kid without a whole lot, we are still able to change someones life when we are willing to try.
