Lifesong – Liberia Overview

Liberia

Master’s Home of Champions Liberia

Lifesong for Orphans is pleased to work with Liberian nationals who are passionate about rescuing and caring for destitute and abandoned children. Our Liberian staff is made up of Christians who understand the dynamics of their culture and the challenges of living in poverty. It is the desire of the entire staff to change lives and raise up “champions”.

The Master’s Home of Champions orphanages in Rehab and Marshall are providing a loving and safe home to many destitute and abandoned orphan children, some of whom are deaf. Bishop Emmanuel Jones and his wife, Ramona, are passionate about rescuing and caring for such children. After spending several years living on the streets as a young boy, Emmanuel understands the pain, fear, hunger, and struggle to survive. As a result, he has a passion to reach the neediest children with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to provide a loving, safe home for them. They seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and are focused on the goal of raising up champions for the good of Liberia and glory of God.

Some of the goals of our partnership include:

  • Rescuing abandoned and orphaned children
  • Meeting basic needs-food, shelter, clothing, medical care
  • Offering hope in Christ-teaching biblical truth
  • Providing a quality Christian education
  • Teaching life and vocational skills
  • Fostering a community spirit

At the Rehab location (top photo), there are currently about 69 children living at the orphanage, approximately 1/4 of whom are deaf. Also on the site is a 6-room school building, which is open to the children of the community, with over 243 students receiving a Christian education this year. Quality of life has improved, as the children are now receiving three meals a day, each has their own bed, mattress and mosquito net, and their health has improved.

At the Marshall location (above), there are currently 25 children with room for more. As funding allows us to do so, we hope to be able to take in more children at this location. The school at Marshall is also open to the community, with about 120 children attending. With the addition of a new school building, this fall we plan to increase the age of students up to 8th grade. This is a huge blessing for the children in the Marshall region since the nearest public school is a 30 minute walk.

Many children in the Monrovia area are now blessed to live at the Master’s Home of Champions, where their lives are being transformed and their hope is restored. Recent projects include: A new well that was completed this past spring, solving the water problems for at least ten years. There is now a safe water supply for the orphanage as well as the surrounding community. The buildings have recently been painted, bathrooms roofed, and school room doors and screens added.

Ongoing projects include: finishing the fence and gate, and installing lighting around the perimeter of the property. This lighting would greatly benefit the neighborhood, as there is no electricity in the area. To view more current needs, click here.
