December 2010 Update

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Honduras director, Guy Henry:

12-10 Hond 1Two of the final "Life in Action Outreaches" for the year were exceptional events and are worth mentioning. The first outreach was with a group from the Senior Class. They hiked up a steep mountainside to the remote village of San Isidro to celebrate Children's Day with the village children who otherwise receive no grand celebrations. The students worked together to prepare food for each of them and also provided a piņata full of candy and prizes.

The second outreach was with a group of 38 boys. These boys helped another ministry that is trying to get their orphanage up and running. They have a 14-acre compound that has been abandoned for two years and they want to start housing and educating children by February 2011. Calling it a mess was an understatement, however these boys and their 4 leaders made a serious dent in the clean up of this facility. Three power washers, 20 machetes, 2 wheel barrels, 6 shovels, 8 brooms, 2 squeegees, 4 rakes, 42 pairs of hands and not a person sitting idle. It was a sight to see what could be done in the Name of Jesus and for His Glory.

12-10 Hond 2November ended the 2010 school year and we are pleased to report that 18% of our students finished with grades at a 90% and above. As always, we ended the year with our recognition ceremony for the student body, when these students received a certificate of special recognition. Those with a 95% or higher received a gift along with their certificate. The weekend's events also include a church service to end the year, in which the senior graduates are sent off with a word of encouragement and prayed over. We had 64 graduates total.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we strive to bring joy and purpose to orphans in Honduras.
