“When you take a step of faith…” // Family Friday

Meet Todd and Rebecca. Lifesong adoptive parents of sweet Samuel from China.  They were blessed by one of our church fund partners, First Baptist Church, with an interest-free loan & direct grant to help with the significant financial barrier to adoption. It’s such a joy to see Samuel is in the arms of a forever family! Read their story… When you take a step of faith it is amazing to see God work. We have experiences with God providing for us through others. Specifically Lifesong’s role, we were thankful that the Lord gave us access to funds to assist in both grant and loan. The thing that sticks out most in my mind about the “adoption experience” is how many people walked with us through this. We were humbled by so many that wanted to participate in some way; prayer and gifts for us on behalf of a child none … Continue reading

“Aaron is a priceless gift from God!” // Family Friday

Through ups & downs and twists & turns, I’m excited to share with you just a preview of Stephan & Joy’s adoption journey to their son Aaron from the Philippines. It was our joy to partner with them, helping bridge the financial gap of adoption through an interest-free loan an fundraising support. Please enjoy their testimony… When we initionally contacted Lifesong in 2011, it looked like we were going to be able to adopt newborn twins domestically. We opened an account where family and friends could make tax deductible donations to our adoption. And a short time later we learned that we were also approved for an interest free loan!! We were so very thankful by Lifesong’s willingness to partner in this journey with us. Ultimately, God had different plans when the adoption fell through as birth mommy chose to parent. A few months later we contacted Lifesong again as another set of twins … Continue reading

Worth the Wait // Family Friday

Welcome to another edition of Family Friday! Today, we have a post from adoptive parents, Jeff & Rachel. With permission, I snagged this entry from their blog, knowing many of you as adoptive families can relate. Adoption is a waiting game. Listen in to this post from Rachel, months after their daughter Kate was home with them from Ethiopia. Read more of their story on their blog: www.raeleshe.blogspot.com. Waiting for your child to come home sort of feels like someone is slowly murdering you. It’s horrendous. Especially when it is a third world country and you are getting photos of them dressed like Annie met up with a circus clown and had a love child.    And then you hear they are sick.   And jab! A knife went into your heart.   The mama bear in you wants to get on a plane and solve the problem immediately. But you have … Continue reading

“Full of the joy of life” // Family Friday

I welcome you to listen into another testimony of God’s love and promise to the orphan: that He will set the lonely into families. Here is just one more example. Meet Michael and Jeunessse, adoptive parents of Lily Ruth from China. It was our joy to partner with this family in facilitating a matching grant through the Run for Orphans Adoption Fund. Listen in as Michael and Jaunesse share the joy and faithfulness they have witnessed from our Father God… Our experience with Lifesong was nothing but a blessing and inspiration from application to the last minute funds the Lord provided through the matching grant Lifesong searched out for us through Run for Orphans.  The staff was genuine with a clear love for orphans, children and people.  The matching grant through Lifesong was the final financial blessing/gift we truly needed when we just had no idea where the rest of … Continue reading

“God can create a family out of strangers” // Family Friday

I’m excited to share with you a special guest blog post from one of our adoptive families. We were able to bless Brad & Sharon in their second adoption of their son Asrate (Ethiopia) with a matching grant. Please listen in as Sharon shares her heart of on an ordinary day four months after bringing Asrate into their forever family.  Last Wednesday Brad and I spent the day alone with our two youngest.  We had a lot of time to sit and just be with them as we were in a waiting room for a few hours. I sat watching the two of them playing kitchen together.  Imagining.  Having their own little conversations.  One of them gave orders because she was, ahem, clearly in charge. It struck me so clearly that just four months ago they didn’t know each other at all.  I am quite sure that no one in the … Continue reading

How Could We Not? // Family Friday

Erik and Erin’s journey to their son Austin is extremely unique…one that doesn’t involve flying around the world or waiting to one day meet their future son. This story is different, but just as beautiful as they stepped in to help a family member in need by providing Austin with a stable and secure family. To hear their whole adoption testimony, read there blog post, “How Could We Not?”. We were thankful to come along side this family and share in their journey. Listen in as they share their heart & experience in adoption funding with Lifesong: Having a non-profit agency that would collect our funds and distribute them to as needed was so helpful in our adoption. It kept us “above reproach” knowing that those who donated could rest assured that their money was going towards Austin’s adoption and Austin’s adoption only. It is amazing to me that every … Continue reading
