How to Change a Life on Valentine’s Day

It’s easier to change a life than you might think. When it comes to family preservation and orphan care, perhaps nothing is more impactful than child sponsorship. When you choose to sponsor a child, you’re giving that child the gift of hope and a future. Specifically, when you sponsor a child through Lifesong, you ensure that child will: Not want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter Be taught the Gospel and how to live as followers of Jesus Christ Receive a quality education to provide a foundation for their future Experience continued love and support as they transition into adult living For a child overseas, this commitment can be the difference between life and death, bondage or freedom. And–for $34 or $68 monthly–YOU have the power to make this happen without ever leaving home. See children who need sponsored   A personal invitation This Valentine’s Day, would you give your heart … Continue reading

God is doing big things in India because of your prayer and support! Meet Anand Anand found Mercy Home when his hostel shut down and he needed a place to stay. Anand was orphaned and in the 10th grade. His teachers cared deeply about him and reached out to us to help, and so we gladly opened our doors for him. At our home Anand was introduced to Jesus Christ, and soon he began to pray and seek relationship with God. Anand began to study the Bible in depth and started praying fervently. Anand trusted Christ and was baptized by our own staff. He loves the Lord with heart, soul, and mind, and today he is a strong ambassador of Jesus in college. He is actively involved in college and local church ministry. His dream is to become an assistant aesthetician. He is currently studying to be a Medical Laboratary … Continue reading

3 Powerful Ways You Can Help Preserve Vulnerable Families

Orphan care, foster care, and adoption are powerful ways to show love to children in need. That said, the best orphan care is orphan prevention. This month, we would like to focus our attention on children who will not be adopted. The world is filled with families who are struggling to stay together, yet who want to stay together. Imagine the grandmother who can no longer work but must feed and clothe the grandchildren in her care. Consider the mother who must single-handedly raise her six kids after Ebola took their father. These stories are not uncommon. Here are 3 powerful ways you can help preserve vulnerable families– 1. Sponsor a child. We believe God calls us to care for orphans and those who cannot care for themselves. Gospel-centered child sponsorship, then, is a great opportunity to change a child’s life, but it also has great potential to keep a … Continue reading

2017: An Exciting Look Back

At Lifesong for Orphans we believe God calls us to care for orphans and those who cannot care for themselves—at home and abroad. To that end, we are more committed than ever to global orphan care, adoption, and foster care. In 2017, our resolve grew stronger, our supporters gave generously, and by the grace of God we took the love of Christ—in the form of the Gospel and daily care—to more children than ever before. A Few Highlights—   Her name literally meant “devil” when she was found by Lifesong staff in Cambodia. Today the staff provides Mary with healthy meals, proper clothing, and a safe place in which to grow, learn, and play. Mary has since transformed from a quiet, sad child to a bright and lively little girl. Even her name has changed. As the Nichols family pressed forward with their plans to adopt, expenses began to mount. … Continue reading

Life Touching Life | Lifesong Ukraine

It was a very eventful recent Christmas season with various programs and big events! Here is a brief recap of what God is doing in Ukraine through your prayer and support– Our first Christmas event was a New Life meeting for 40 young women and their 25 children at Prostor base, Loubetin, on December 30. Having grown up in the orphanage herself, New Life founder Natasha, 27, has a special heart for these young women–many of whom are trapped in prostitution, single parenthood, or other challenging life experiences. This ministry is growing, and we have more than 100 young women in this New Life circle.   Our second Christmas event involved two Christmas programs for children, held by the Chernihiv team from January 11-13. The first Christmas program was held in Seredinka village, where Lifesong Farm site 2 is located. It was a pleasant surprise to see the room of … Continue reading

The Bumpy, Dark Road of Adoption | Family Friday

Adoption was in our hearts for a long time. For Georgie the desire has been there since she was a little girl. For Wyley, it came later in our marriage when we were told we wouldn’t be able to have children. The Lord gave us three biological children and called us to the mission field, so our desire to adopt remained there but never seemed to be the “right time.” There were so many reasons that made adoption impossible, barring a miracle. We didn’t make enough money, we were living in very rural areas and were always transitioning … … Until the Lord clearly and graciously told us to adopt as we were on a visa run in Thailand. Our adoption started 2 years ago in what was supposed to be an 8-month process. I wish our testimony was one of extraordinary faith, where we just trusted and steadily … Continue reading

Franki’s Story | Lifesong Bolivia

Franki arrived at Lifesong Bolivia in January 2014 at the age of 15 … Prior to his arrival, he was living in the jungle, in a tropical region of Bolivia, under the care of a different orphanage. Upon arriving at Lifesong Bolivia, Franki had a severe infection in his hand that he sustained while harvesting coca leaves (the plant used to make cocaine). His leg was also infected due to an untreated bug bite. He was immediately admitted to a local clinic where he stayed a week to get the necessary treatment for his infections. Understandably, Franki’s transition to Lifesong Bolivia was a difficult one–suddenly having structure, rules, and expectations. While this was challenging at times, our staff saw great potential in Franki that we knew we wanted to develop. We believe God cares deeply for children like Franki and that in the Bible we are called to tell children … Continue reading
