Hope Ethiopia: 100

Hope Ethiopia from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo.  Children at the Lifesong Ethiopia school are fed 2 nutritious meals per day, provided with a quality education, and taught the message of Jesus Christ. This gives kids like Beza the hope they need in order to break free from gripping poverty. We currently have a need to build a 12-room expansion to our existing school, in order to reach more children like Beza. We have been blessed, by the generosity of a donor, to be able to MATCH all donations to the Ziway and Adami Tulu Schools between now and December 31st… up to $130,000!!! This week, the 5th through the 9th, we invite you to join Hope Ethiopia:100. We are looking for 100 people to give a one-time $100 donation! We have currently raised $59,472.21 of the $130,000 needed, which is about 46%.  Joining this team will not only give hope to kids like Beza, but your dollars will be matched AND you’ll be entered into a drawing for a FABULOUS gift … Continue reading

Glimpse of Redemption

I walked into work this morning to an email with an AMAZING story of redemption!   Mitzi McBride, missionary at Lifesong Zambia tells the story SO well – My Redeemer… My sweet Jesus. He is certainly about making whole, making beauty out of ashes, and filling any gaps, scars, and holes that a sinful world has left marked on His children.    Today, I saw it for my own eyes. It was such a beautiful outward display of what is in the hearts of two boys. Boys that have lived through the death of both their father and their mother. Boys that have wondered “what will happen to my life now?” Yet, they are boys who have experienced REDEMPTION, grace, and LOVE… They have experienced the hands and feet of Jesus in their lives through LifeSong. They see that there is more to life than the hopelessness they see around them. … Continue reading

Brush to Berries-Zambia & GIVEAWAY!!

Brush to Berries from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo. “Simply giving this person money is treating the symptoms rather than the underlying disease and will enable him to continue with his lack of self-discipline… a better solution would be to develop a relationship that says, we are here to walk with you and to help you use your gifts and abilities to avoid being in this situation in the future‘” (An excerpt from the book, When Helping Hurts)   Lifesong is serving the people of Zambia… the orphaned, the at-risk, and the poor… by utilizing the land that is, like the people, so full of potential. Lifesong farms-Zambia reaped its first strawberry harvest in June, and local grocers have been purchasing the berries. With additional acres to farm, we are hoping to process some of the berries and begin marketing Lifesong Farms Strawberry Jam.   By harvesting fruit, we are … Continue reading

Kids Caring 4 Kids visits Lifesong Zambia

“I’m just a girl who wants to make a difference for other kids.” In 2004, 11 year old Kendall Ciesemier organized Kids Caring 4 Kids after undergoing 2 liver transplants in one summer.  Her heart went out to kids who also had physical challenges but no family or resources to help them.  So instead of flowers and gifts, she urged family and friends to donate to her new organization and partnered with World Vision so she could help kids suffering from the affects of AIDS!  Now, KC4K has also partnered with Lifesong and others and is on a mission to raise $1 million to help children in Africa!  In Lifesong Zambia, KC4K has funded indoor plumbing and a “sick bay” for the school. This past friday KC4K had the great opportunity to visit our Zambia school.  Check out Kendall’s blog here where she recaps their day!

Help William Walk…

Meet William. William was born with club feet, a condition easily fixed at birth in the states, but often left untreated in parts of the world that do not have the financial or medical capabilities to perform surgery.  He is one of our little guys who attends the Lifesong school in Zambia.  A team from central Illinois visited this past January and their hearts were touched by the sadness in William’s eyes as he stood on the sidelines watching the other children run and play.  Touched as they saw him carried over a mile by his older brother to school.  Touched as he walked completely on the sides of his feet.  So touched that they, along with others, have been moved to action in seeking medical help for William. They are in the process of contacting doctors both in the US and Zambia figuring out the legal, medical and financial issues of … Continue reading
