Village of Hope Welcomes First Child!

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Guatemala: Village of Hope… After almost a year of paperwork, Village of Hope has finally received our official license from the Guatemalan government! Our doors are open to begin welcoming children! The first child came through our doors just 2 days after we were licensed. Meet Andres, a sweet little 1 month old who is HIV+. Born 2 months premature, he spent the first month of his life in a hospital.  Andres’ mother, from remote Guatemalan village, was unable to care for him and we are thankful for God’s provision in his life to bring him to Village of Hope. We welcomed Andres with open arms and thrilled to give him a home to be loved and cared for by his Guatemalan houseparents at Village of Hope.” Would you please join us in prayer for our Guatemalan house parents & little Andres? Pray that God’s … Continue reading

Emptying Orphanages in Ukraine Through Adoption

Please enjoy this update from Denis Poshelok, Lifesong Ukraine Director, as he shares the success of the recent Ukraine National Adoptive Conference. Many of the adoptive families that attended are not only being supported by their local church, but also by American churches through Adoption Without Borders, an intentional program to link like-minded families and churches in the USA with Christian families in the Ukraine who are seeking to adopt. Please join us in lifting up these families in Ukraine as they seek to ’empty the orphanages” through indigenous adoption. “Last weekend we had another great event at our camp – semi annual National Adoption Conference.  About 20 families have attended, this time they came with their children, 62 total! Lots of work to host such an event but definitely joyful! There were two separate events in one – Empowered to Connect training for the adults/parents (both adoptive and potential) and horses, … Continue reading

Pouring into Students // Lifesong Ethiopia

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Ethiopia Directors, Gary & Peggy Ifft… As God continues to expand the work here in Ziway and Adami Tulu, we often get caught up with all the construction activity, government relations, and all the red tape stuff of holding this runaway train together. That’s why we try to balance those items out with other significant events going on here with regard to other parts of our ministry, which include evangelism, teaching Christian values to our students, and care for orphans and vulnerable children. We are not allowed to teach Christianity in our classrooms and must adhere to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. However, we do utilize any time outside the classroom for spiritual activities. For example, at the flagpole each school morning, in addition to singing the Ethiopian national anthem, the student body hears a Bible reading, a devotion, a prayer, and … Continue reading

The Gift of Reading // Lifesong Zambia

Please enjoy this update from  Lifesong Zambia… As we move towards our term break and the exams that come with the end of a school session, we begin to worry about the education of our kids. Are we doing enough? What can we do better? Is this working? How do we help those who have learning disabilities to succeed? The questions are many and the staff is few… Some years ago a beautiful library was installed and gifted to us. What a great blessing! And now with a few more staff and some incredible interns we are beginning to realize the potential. We have begun opening the doors for kids to checkout the books and take them home. They are being returned worn, dirty and with torn pages…BUT they have been read. Our kids are craving books. Our teachers are teaching our kids the love of reading and they are … Continue reading

Businesses Giving Back

Coming off of our Be a Light summer blog series, you may feel like you were drinking from a fire hydrant. We shared all kinds of information, resources, books and links that may have left you thinking…“Well, what does being a light look like for ME?” And that is a good question; one that need to be prayed through, thought out and discussed. It will look different for each of us and that’s ok. Sometimes in our own journey, it’s helpful to have examples that can guide us in what it looks like to be a light. With that theme still in mind, I thought it would be great to share with you one of our Orphan Advocates who is amazing example of someone who is being  light to children in need through their business. I don’t highlight him to lift him up or put his family and business on a pedestal, … Continue reading
