Against the Odds // Family Friday

Robert & Mary, Lifesong/Both Hands adoptive family, gave us a glimpse into God’s provision through their adoption of their three children from Ethiopia – Habiba (12), Fetya (8), and Abebaw (4). When it seemed like circumstances were ‘impossible’, God worked in His profound way against the odds, painting an unforgettable picture of adoption for Robert & Mary. To learn more about Lifesong’s Adoption Funding, visit our website here. We were very blessed to have Lifesong as part of our adoption story. We so appreciated seeing the church (& others) mobilized in response to orphans and were very humbled they would choose our specific family to be part of loving. Lifesong offered us a great opportunity for our family & friends to get involved and we loved Lifesong’s encouragement to us. We obviously were very practically assisted by the finances, but we are such big fans of the whole Both Hands Project. We hope it becomes a … Continue reading

Adoption Process Was a ‘God thing’ // Family Friday

Listen in as Jon & Beth, Lifesong adoptive parents of Josiah from Ethiopia, share with us how God worked in their adoption journey… We are so thankful for Lifesong! We were able to have an account set up in our name where individuals and families could donate to our adoption while we were in the process. During our adoption process we actually received a lot of questions about Lifesong, so we were also able to educate others in the role of Lifesong in helping families. This was a neat experience, as many people had never heard of or understood what Lifesong actually does. We also got involved in another area of Lifesong—Lifesong Ethiopia, which grew our love for Ethiopia even further. We were blessed to visit some of the schools during our second trip to Ethiopia. This whole adoption process was a “God thing.” Experiencing how God turned our hearts towards … Continue reading

Both Hands Project Creates Lasting Friendship // Family Friday

About a year ago, Scott, Becky and a group of their friends worked on a widow’s home for a day as they raised money through Lifesong and Both Hands to bring their daughter Molly home from China. Kelly, the widow they served, and her daughter Tori Rose, lost their husband & father seven years ago. Check out their video from last year… Now, a year later, Molly is finally home and we were excited to receive Becky’s email this week showing how their relationship with Kelly and her daughter has only grown in the past year… I just wanted to share a few precious pictures of Kelly & Tori Rose with our family.  It’s been a year since we did our Both Hands project and we are still great friends with Kelly & Tori Rose!  God joined our two families together in a beautiful way!  The last picture is a … Continue reading

Family Friday: A “Full Circle Story”

It was our delight to receive an email this week from Kris & Sarah, a couple who received a Lifesong Matching Grant back in 2004. At the time, they were in the process of adopting two girls from Russia, Elena and Yulia (12 & 10 years old at the time). Listen in to hear where God has brought them in the last 8 years… I wanted to share something exciting which happened with Elena today, and thank you for everything you did in helping us adopt her and Yulia. You may not be aware, but Elena and Yulia had received an Operation Christmas Child shoe box when they were in the orphanage in Russia.  They are what OCC calls “full circle stories”.  Elena has had the opportunity to travel to Uganda with OCC to distribute the shoe boxes to other children and has since became a speaker for Samaritan’s Purse.  Today she shared the stage … Continue reading

Family Friday: “We know God called us to adopt…”

Steven and Tiffany could list 78 reasons why they decided to grow their family through adoption.  For several years, they traveled as road directors for an international children’s choir.  They felt God working on their hearts as they were “Mom” and “Dad” to the children in the choir, many of which were orphans from India, Uganda, Brazil, Philippines, Nepal, and Myanmar. The Lord used these children to cultivate in them a heart for the orphan.  As most adoption stories go, Steven and Tiffany’s journey had some unexpected turns and surprises. But through it all, they felt God’s presence and peace as they persued the adoption of their daughter Ayla from China. Thanks to The Church of Brook Hills Adoption Fund, Steven and Tiffany were given a matching grant through Lifesong to help with some of the fiancial costs. Listen in to hear more… Lifesong provided a way for people to give tax-deductible gifts … Continue reading

Family Friday: “…Nothing is by chance…”

Phillip and Elaine were first called to adoption in 2000 as they sought to grow their family. They now have five daughers (three through adoption). After attending an “If You Were Mine” conference with the intent of starting a church adoption ministry, they were convicted that the Lord was calling them to adopt again. Please listen is as they share God’s almighty hand as He worked through their 4th adoption of Lily Rose from China with the help of Jeeah’s Hope, one of Lifesong Church Adoption Fund Partners. Our Lifesong grant was probably the biggest God-thing that occurred during the adoption process for Lily Rose. We met a couple, Skip & Ashley, via an online adoption community several years before beginning our adoption for Lily Rose. Ashley followed our blog during our adoption of our 5th daughter. Unbeknownst to me, she and a friend had began an adoption ministry called … Continue reading

Family Friday: “…confident in His ultimate provision…”

Meet Wes & Kellee. Their adoption story began in Kellee’s prayer group. When a woman in her group came home from a mission trip to an orphanage in Beijing, China, she shared with their group about a special little boy with Spina Bifida who had captured her heart.  She asked for their group to pray that he could find a “forever family.”  Kellee and the rest of the women prayed diligently for this little boy for two years.  During this time Kellee began to feel that God was telling her that they were to become his forever family.  She brought home a picture of him and as a family they prayed for him every night.  Over time, Wes & Kellee knew God was leading them in this direction.  Three months ago, they were able to bring home 7-year-old, David, home into their forever family! Listen in as they share their … Continue reading
