Reversing the Orphan Crisis

Shosha’s Story. Sid and Jayne always knew they wanted to adopt. Like many couples who pursue adoption, they planned to have biological children first and then begin the adoption process. That all changed when they met and instantly loved Shosha. Shosha was diagnosed with a hole in the wall of her heart that separates the right and left ventricles. Though it was successfully repaired by a Chinese surgeon when Shosha was a year old, she received a grim diagnosis. She would never be active, and her lifespan would be short.  Sid and Jayne had many questions–not because they were deciding whether or not to adopt Shosha, but to learn how best to care for her. Sid and Jayne enlisted the help of the Chosen & Dearly Loved Foundation to bring their daughter home. After adopting Shosha, something incredible happened. Her energy grew by leaps and bounds and now she can keep … Continue reading

When You Can’t Afford to Adopt

We were very sure of God’s calling on our family to adopt. We trusted Him to provide our needs, but at the beginning of a 5-year process, we received difficult news about grants because we were in a modified program with our agency. Most grants would not reimburse us for money already paid to our agency (and we had prepaid everything to them). We stopped applying after losing one and being ineligible for others. We didn’t doubt our call to adopt, but were looking at loans in amounts beyond what we had expected.  I’m a stay-at-home mom and my husband is a pastor. People often say that they would adopt if they could afford it. We are at the end of our adoption, around $33,000 in fees, and honestly it’s hard for us to understand how God has done it, but after the adoption tax refund this year, we are looking … Continue reading

“A perfect match for your family!” // Family Friday

Meet Andy and Kristen, the adoptive parents of sweet Mia from China. From the beginning, God lead them slowly and surely through this beautiful journey. Listen in as they share the ups, downs and joys as they walked the road of adoption… We had a very frustrating experience in our wait for Mia. We had to switch agencies as we waited month aftermonth. We can now see clearly how OUR daughter was not ready for us yet! After we switched agencies, our process was quick and painless and we could see God’s hand every step of the way. We specifically appreciated how Lifesong helped us with the cost. Needless to say, our money situation would have looked much different minus the $7,000 we got with our matching grant! It was the difference in having to take out a loan. One God-thing that comes to mind: the day I called our new agency … Continue reading

“I am your mommy!” // Family Friday

Matt and Alicia are they adoptive parents of this sweet little guy, Cohen. They traveled last year to bring him home from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We were honored to join them in this journey by providing an interest-free loan as well as providing fundraising support as they participated in a Both Hands project. I recently was looking back through Alicia’s blog and came across the post where she described the moment her and her husband met Cohen for the first time. From the heart of a momma… My stomach was wild like a parachute being shaken by a classroom of preschoolers.  Was it the coffee we had drank earlier in the day?  Was it the food that was prepared for us as guests of honor at our new friend’s house?  Was it the nerves?  Was it the intense smell of diesel fuel that overwhelmed our nostrils when driving … Continue reading

“God worked to bring them home…” // Family Friday

Scott and Kathy are amazing examples of what Psalms 68:5-6 actually looks like. They have brought 16 children into their family through adoption as they act as defenders of the fatherless, willingly placing the lonely into their family. They just brought home two children from China and Lifesong, with help of the TAMBA Adoption Fund, were able to help fund these two adoptions. I invite you to listen to their testimony and the AMAZING way that God, as He does, worked out all of the details for Roslyn and Jaden be apart of a FOREVER FAMILY… We are home with our babies, and have been so anxious to send you information on them and another thank you for all that you guys did to make their homecoming possible. How does one thank another for saving precious lives? We are still searching for words to express to all of you, and to … Continue reading

“The Lord met all of our needs…” // Family Friday

Just this week we received a lovely thank you from Matt and Kelly, a Lifesong family who were given a Lifesong Legacy Loan to help bring their son Jeriah home from Thailand. They included their loan repayment making it possible for Lifesong to give out a loan to ANOTHER family, like them, who are bringing a child into a forever family! Thank you Matt & Kelly for letting us walk this adoption journey with you. Praying that God’s hand will continue to rest on your family as you grow and live in Him! It is with great joy that we are sending this check to pay back the loan you so graciously granted us for our adoption of our son, Jeriah. At the beginning of this long process, the cost overwhelmed us. And yet, the Lord has met all of our needs in truly wonderful ways. We know that God … Continue reading
