Giving Hope to the Hopeless {Lifesong Ukraine}

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Ukraine…   One of our recent highlights was a camp for children with special needs at our camp horse farm. It was a great week for the children who don’t have much in this life! Not much in terms of what State run institution offers as well and what future holds for them. The State Social Care Program is designed to keep them in the orphanage until they are 28-30 and then transfer them to a State nursing home to live until they pass away. Many of these children have down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy or other mental disorders. But, many of them are very smart and capable to function in our society, requiring some supervision. Most importantly, we see that many of them understand God’s plan and are very receptive to the Gospel.    Horse therapy is one of the key elements of the program with these … Continue reading

Emptying Orphanages in Ukraine Through Adoption

Please enjoy this update from Denis Poshelok, Lifesong Ukraine Director, as he shares the success of the recent Ukraine National Adoptive Conference. Many of the adoptive families that attended are not only being supported by their local church, but also by American churches through Adoption Without Borders, an intentional program to link like-minded families and churches in the USA with Christian families in the Ukraine who are seeking to adopt. Please join us in lifting up these families in Ukraine as they seek to ’empty the orphanages” through indigenous adoption. “Last weekend we had another great event at our camp – semi annual National Adoption Conference.  About 20 families have attended, this time they came with their children, 62 total! Lots of work to host such an event but definitely joyful! There were two separate events in one – Empowered to Connect training for the adults/parents (both adoptive and potential) and horses, … Continue reading

Changing Lives through Lifesong Farms

Lifesong Farms. Through the partnership and expertise from our friends at Plant Sciences, Inc., jobs have been created for in-county orphan caregivers and orphan graduates who are transitioning into adulthood. The goal of Lifesong Farms is to not only benefit these individuals with employment, but also to establish sustainable businesses to help fund on-going orphan care. Enjoy these updates from Lifesong Farms in Zambia and Ukraine… “OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN CHANGED…” // Zambia Because of the faithful work of our 16 farm ladies, we have been able to grow and sell berries to local grocery stores. More important than the berries sales, it is exciting to provide employment opportunities for these women, many of them widows, who care for multiple children.  Learn more about Lifesong Farms-Zambia>> BERRIES SOLD IN GROCERIES // Ukraine Strawberries from Lifesong Farms-Ukraine are now in 5 different grocery stores in the Kharkov area. Please enjoy this exciting update from Lifesong Ukraine Director Denis Poshelok explaining their recent meeting with the Government Alliance for Orphans… Last Wednesday, we held our first conference together with Ukraine Without Orphan Alliance for Kharkov State of Ukraine. We had about 220 participants, mostly State officials on orphan care, social workers, orphanage directors, different religious leaders, NGO representatives, etc. We had 10 people from Lifesong (staff/grads, ministers). Governor’s assistant on social services/orphan care spoke highly about the great role of Lifesong Ukraine plays in coping with orphan crisis in our area. Very encouraging! Testimonies of our graduates – Natasha, Andrei, Ruslana, Dima, Vitalik were very strong and were very impressive to the audience. Also, story of my dad being an orphan, and the fact that Tanya and I are also adoptive parents was received very well. Finally, our camp property with elements of horse therapy was a big hit which nailed down strong intentions of our organization. … Continue reading

Sarah’s Birthday of Purpose

Meet Sarah. Sarah just celebrated her 6th birthday last month. You would expect to see dolls, games, and maybe even a bike on her birthday list, right? Wrong. For the second year in a row, Sarah has asked that instead of gifts for her birthday, money be given to Lifesong for Orphans as we care for children around the world. Recently we recieved this note, along with a check to Lifesong from Sarah’s mom, Enclosed is $500 to help fund the adoption of an Ukrainian orphan into a Christian Ukrainian family through your Adoption without Borders program. Our daughter, Sarah, chose to collect donations for Lifesong in lieu of presents to celebrate her 6th birthday. God bless you and your efforts at Lifesong! Isn’t so refreshing to know that because of the selfless choice of ONE child, an orphan in Ukraine can become adopted into a forever family! Sarah, thank you … Continue reading

Breaking the Cycle…

“I was looking for someone to understand me, to love sincerely…I received all this!”    -Natasha, 22   Breaking the Cycle from Lifesong for Orphans on Vimeo.   As you heard Natasha share in the video, the orphanage took care of her basic needs — food, shelter, clothing.     But she longed for more.    Belonging. Commitment. Love from a family. Hope for a future.   Because we believe kids like Natasha need much more than their ‘basic needs’, the staff of Lifesong Ukraine are building relationships inside the orphanage walls to create what we call Constant Christian Presence (CCP).    The CCP provides mentorship and discipleship, improved living conditions, one-on-one counseling, group Bible study, job skills training, music lessons, and computer skills training.   Instead of the common trend of orphans creating orphans, Natasha, because of her support through CCP, now desires to help other children who are in orphanages to … Continue reading
