Thanks to many of you for joining us last week in praying for the speakers, presenters and musicians that are preparing for CAFO2014. As we pray into this week, let’s lift up those who will be attending. Last year’s conference drew 2,500 foster and adoptive parents, orphan advocates, pastors and leaders from 49 states and 25+ countries. While numbers and stats are fun to look at, lets pray not necessarily pray for the quantity of attendees, but the quality! Join us in praying for the CAFO2014 attendees… Pray for attendance. God, we pray that you would make a way for the right people to be present at CAFO2014. We asks that you would guide hearts to be drawn to this conference to know more about your love for the orphan. Pray for prepared hearts. Father, we ask that … Continue reading

3 Simple Ways to Impact Orphans {New Years Resolution}

It’s that time of year, when New Years Resolutions from a week ago are already sounding like a bad idea.  Whether it’s weight loss, book lists or travel plans, sometimes we have a tendency to dream big. And maybe that isn’t so bad. Even if we don’t end up making or keeping our goals exactly or perfectly, we are hopefully still headed towards it.  So, now that we are a week into 2014, I have to ask, did any of your New Years Resolutions include orphans? I challenge you to read and consider revising your resolutions to include these three simple ways that you can impact orphans this year… Pray – spend time daily praying for orphans in their distress. To help get you started, feel free to follow one of the following prayer guides: 40 Day Praying for Orphans Guide, One Hour Prayer Guide for the Fatherless, & Foster Care Prayer … Continue reading

Pray // 5 Ways YOU can be a Light to a Child in Need

This is post is part of a summer blog series titled, “5 Ways You can be a Light to a Child in Need”. To read previous post, click here. “Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given…” Psalm 105:5-6 Welcome to part 1 of our summer blog series as we start the conversation of “how to be a light to a child in need.” Often when I think of the orphan crisis and the number of kids in my own community that need love and affirmation, my first response (if I’m not initially too overwhelmed) is to think, “What can I do?” Normally, I want an answer that is tangible and practical, something I can physically do and see instant results based on my actions. I don’t think that’s totally inappropriate, but I do think that we often … Continue reading

Please enjoy this update on Lifesong Ethiopia from Gary Ifft as he shares how our students are building a solid foundation through prayer… Recently I went around the back side of our new two-story school building. As I turned the corner I saw about 30-40 students sitting on the stairs blocking my path. I asked, “What kind of club is this?,” expecting that they were hiding from the staff and up to no good. The boy standing at the bottom of the stairs very politely responded “tselot,” (prayer). I was taken aback and asked them to please continue. Later, our school director, Solomon, came to me and reported that two groups of students had asked … Continue reading
