Back to School & Adoption: 4 Resources

Love it or leave it, back-to-school season is here.

The start of school can be a time of anxiety for all young learners, but it can be especially tough for our adopted kids.

As their parent (or simply someone who’s invested in their life), there may be factors you haven’t even considered that can impact how their school year goes. We’re here to help.

These four resources are written by adoptive parents for adoptive parents and can help you start the semester on the right foot.

1. Some simple ways to help your kids face potentially sticky situations they may encounter at school…

2. A how-to guide on raising a classroom that cares for kids

3. Tips on deciding what to say (or not say) to your child’s school about their adoption…

4. A few extra reasons to praise God for your child’s school teacher

BONUS!

This new semester is a perfect opportunity to take back that morning commute to school! Here are five verses to memorize with your child on your way to and from school every day.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
